appeal to the authority of historical scholars

Sean Murray you reasoning is only valid if you feel scholars are to be considered correct without regard to the underlying evidence.  If you honestly believe that, then you are required to accept that the Bible is completely inaccurate about anything important (Exodus never happened for example) and evolution is a fact.

Your appeal to the authority of historical scholars is special pleading because you reject this notion on every other point.

Here is the problem Sean Murray - your position is that scholars are wrong about everything in the entire known universe, until you get to the historicity of Jesus and then all of the sudden you want us to listen to scholars.
